If you wish to submit a manuscript
for consideration by Know The Score Books,
please read the guidelines below.
Books
We are always looking out for good writing, but please understand
that we receive hundreds of submissions so need to keep the
volume of reading to a minimum. Hence these guidelines have
evolved to allow us to assess your submission quickly and
respond to you within a month – many other publishers
take up to 6 months. (Please note that there are separate
guidelines for submission of material for children's books,
film and TV.)
- Unless you have a literary agent,
submissions should be sent to:
Books Department Submissions
Know The Score Books Limited
The College Business Centre
Uttoxeter New Road
Derby
DE22 3WZ
- For both fiction and non-fiction, we prefer to see in
the first instance an outline/précis of 1-2 pages
and two or three sample chapters (the first two or three
chapters are usually preferable) together with a covering
letter giving an account of the background of the book and
an account of the writer's career to date.
- We currently do not accept submissions by fax.
- Submissions should be typed in double spacing on one
side of the paper only or following the same format in a
word document.
- We are normally only interested in representation of
world rights in all media, but if a case can be made then
will listen to representations regarding single territory
rights.
- If other agents or publishers have read this material
or will be reading this material at the same time please
let us know out of courtesy.
- We don't acknowledge receipt, and material will only
be returned if it is accompanied by return postage, which
should be securely attached to the submission (preferably
on a stamped, self-addressed envelope). Those submitting
material should not expect or request its return by recorded
delivery.
- We make every effort to read material quickly, and aim
to respond within 4 weeks of receipt of work.
- We receive up to 100 submissions a week and it is impossible
for us to offer editorial comments or suggestions about
material rejected by us.
- Authors should retain the top copy of material submitted
to us. We cannot be held responsible for any typescripts
or art work submitted to us.
All further enquiries relating to submission of book material
